Moss Hall Infant School Ofsted Inspection 22 and 23 November 2023.

Dear Moss Hall Schools Federation community,

We are writing to inform you that Moss Hall Infant’s Ofsted inspection has been published and is currently available to review below.  The inspection took place towards the end of November, and we firstly want to extend our thanks to all the staff, pupils, parents, and carers who spoke to and supported inspectors on their visit.

We are really pleased to report that the school has been awarded an overall judgement of ‘Good’ and has reached the ‘Outstanding’ threshold for both Personal Development and Early Years provision. This outcome is well deserved and reflects the incredible work staff across the federation have done and continue to deliver for our children.

As many of you will know the school was last inspected 14 years ago and judged ‘Outstanding’ under a previous inspection framework. It is important to remember how much has changed since 2009 and place this judgement in the context of a new and far more demanding inspection framework.

Governors are pleased that inspectors were able to see how strong our Infant school is, particularly regarding Early Years Provision and Personal Development – areas where we know staff think very deeply about children’s love for learning, making friendships and developing self-confidence. They noted that pupils enjoy coming to a welcoming and nurturing environment, that staff know pupils well and that most importantly pupils are happy and feel safe at the school. It was also great to see inspectors acknowledge that the school supports all children to build the foundations they need for their next phase of education and that our carefully constructed and ambitious curriculum pays dividends.

There is significantly more to celebrate about Moss Hall Federation and the infant school than could be included in a single-word judgement or a 2 day inspection, but we remain incredibly proud of this achievement. We hope you join us in congratulating all those involved and take the time to review the report in full.

Working with school leadership we will carefully consider the details of the report, including any information provided about where we can become even stronger in delivering for children. As always, the governing board will continue in its function to ensure both schools serve our children and deliver the best level of education possible - and we look forward to your support in this mission.

Yours sincerely,

Mo Choonara & David Dunn (Co-Chairs, MHSF Governing Board)
